Beyond the School: A resource for the whole community.
Beyond the School aims to encourage the active participation of students, teachers and other members of the local community including community groups and people from different social and cultural backgrounds. It is an effective way of engaging people of different generations in a joint activity with shared outcomes.
Curriculum connections
Schools, Colleges and other community groups can use the Beyond the School project to develop a range of cross curricular skills and competencies. This project corresponds significantly with many aspects of the Key Skills Programme- the skills which are most commonly needed to succeed in a range of activities – at work, in education and training and in everyday life.
Project Inspiration
The project is a continuation of similar projects that have been running in several European Union countries . These projects have been very positively received by the public. The main tasks involved in the Beyond the School project can be carried out by schools, teachers and other professionals but most importantly by the students themselves.
